First thing you should do is make sure it's blood..

The reason I say check to see if it's blood is because there are a few things that could cause discharge in your mouth that may not be blood; canker sores or other mouth or gum disease.. Anything that causes your mouth to become infected can eventually and quickly have effects on your teeth..

If you confirm that it is blood you are tasting, here are a few reasons this could happen, if it's blood..
it could be a severe case of gingivitis.. Not caring for your teeth by brushing and flossing regularly.. I recommend burshing twice a day and flossing once a day.. At the very least, you should be brushing once a day and flossing once a week..

You could have a rotting tooth.. This often happens in middle age and older people whose teeth can loosen by routine use.. As you age you have to take better care of everything that's why I always recommend starting when you are young.. A rotton tooth does not always cause pain.. The roots of your teeth can get rotton from lack of dental care.. On the other hand, if you have not cared for your teeth you may have been enduring pain that you didn't know you weren't supposed to have..

Your gums could be generally infected by lack of oral cleanliness.. The mouth is the one place that bacteria develops faster than anywhere else in the body in normal circumstances.. Lack of oral care can cause this bacteria to attack everything from your teeth to your gums, your tongue, your throat, and eventually your stomach, since most things that go into your mouth end up there..

You should schedule a visit with the dentist immediately if:
1- If you have swelling and redness on your gums around the edge of your teeth..
2- Teeth that are discolored, sore or loose
3- sores on your gums including the roof of your mouth and under your tongue
4- Blood discharging from gums, teeth, or mouth
5- If you haven't seen one in 6 months or more..

The absolute best way to find your answer is to visit a dentist

If the bleeding is not related to your teeth or mouth and the blood discharge happens after lying down it could be an ulser.. If it happens any time of the day it could be something in your throat that you can't see.. The roof of our mouths is very thick tissue and very tough.. The roof of your mouth could be cut and it might not even bother you..Health Question & Answer
