Standing BackBends?!


Question: Standing BackBends.?
Ok so I used to be able to do a backbend from standing up right alone and then one day i fell on my head.... smooth huh but anyways ever since then i have not been able to it with out hurting myself..I fall back really really fast it's like i cant slow myself down to get more control of what Im doing..I have even went to the wall and that doesn't even help..it's pretty sad.. I HAVE to get this for cheer/ gymnastics this is like the only thing i cant do im better at backhandsprings than this.... so please help me i'd rather not look stupidHealth Question & Answer

Its psychological- your body had one bad experience so it remembers the action and tries to prevent it! it happened to me during a handstand dismount and broke my foot -it took ages to do it right again! just try and visualise a perfect backbend when you do it ..Health Question & Answer

Looking stupid and stupidly hurting yourself are two different things.. You CAN do it but work up to it again by reminding yourself that the setback may have been temporary.. Strengthen your muscular control.. Handsprings use lots of inertia whereas the backbend requires more muscular control.. Practice with a spotter to get your control and confidence back.. I fell on my head, hit so hard that I lost my hair but I lived to tell about it.. Dr.. Atkins fell on his head, went into a coma and died.. Take your pick..
