I had a concussion last year in June?!

Question: I had a concussion last year in June.?
I am just wondering, would my concussion be considered mild, moderate, or severe.? I am assuming that I fell from around 10 feet when I flew over the handlebars of my bike while going down a hill, but I can not be completely sure because I couldn't remember very well how I injured myself.. Anyways, my parents told me I was bleeding in several places and that I chipped off three of my front teeth, however I was conscious when my parents returned.. My parents told me that I acted really weird when they got me to the hospital, that I was mumbling and repeating a lot of stuff and I was confused about what year it was.. The moment I hit the ground I kinda blacked out but the people who saw me said I never lost consciousness.. Who should I believe.? Was my concussion a mild or severe one.? Is it possible to black out and be able to stand up at the same time.? It is so weird just thinking about it but I wonderHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
You had a what I would call a mild to severe concussion (based on your losing consciousness); not remembering what happened leading up to an accident, particularly those related to head injuries, is known as retrograde amnesia and is common (as is the confusion and talking incoherently you mentioned) but usually passes..

It is possible to stand upright and to be semi-conscious at the same time and have no recollection afterward..

If this accident, or your lack of memory about it, is bothering you, talk to your doctor, who might refer you for counseling..Health Question & Answer

If you blacked out, then it is at least a moderate..

It is unusual to black out and stay standing, but not impossible..

From additional details, since you had lingering problems and felt bad for so long, it sounds severe..

This means that you are prone to concussions, so stay away from doing things that may get you knocked out, like quarterbacking..Health Question & Answer
