What does it feel like to have a large boil lanced?!
Question: What does it feel like to have a large boil lanced.?
I've had this boil in my armpit for a few weeks and a few days
ago it started hurting.. I went to the doctor aftera few days of
pain and I was told it was a boil and to put a hot wash cloth on
it as much as possible.. Than I was given antibiotics.. He told me if it wasn't draining by Fri.. morning than to come back and he'd lance it.. I think I put too much heat because some of the skin peeled away and turned red, haha.. I've been dutifully taking my antibiotics but I'm so scared of getting it lanced.. I'm only 15 and this is my first (hopefully the last) boil!!! I've read stuff online that is like "it hurts so bad!" or "it doesn't really hurt".. I know it depends on the person and their pain tolerance.. I'd say out of a 1-10 scale, 10 being highest, I'm a 6 on the pain tolerance scale.. The doc will numb it, I'm going to beg him.. Literally I was crying all day, I'm so scared..

Not going to skirt the truth, it does hurt.. But on the other hand, it is immediate relief when it is cut open because it can release the liquid that is inside.. It will not take long at all, just remember it will be over fairly quickly!!!Health Question & Answer
Well the Dr.. will cut it open and stuff it full of gauze and the pain hasn't even begun it gets worse !!! SORRY !!! The healing is the worsted part.. But going to the Dr.. is the best thing to do, even if your scared......Health Question & Answer
I wouldnt worry too much about the lancing, it will be like a tiny pin poke and will feel a lot better after.. I guess my question is how did you get the boil.? I have had them before but its usually from an ingrown hair..Health Question & Answer
It hurts! But he pain doesn't last long at all, and once it is drained you will so much better.. Take some pain relievers before heading off to the doc.. That should help some..Health Question & Answer
