There is one vitamin/mineral you can take regularly that can help with coldsore breakouts.. L-lysine.. My doctor gave me this information, and it works! You just take it all the time, not just at the time of the breakout.. Still use your Spf 30,though..Health Question & Answer

If possible try to avoid or prevent conditions that stress your body, such as getting a cold or the flu, not getting enough sleep or staying in the sun for long periods of time without applying sunblock..

I get them too don't feel bad! Ususally when I am menstrating and really stressed & when I feel my self getting sick .. I suddenly get a cold sore.. Its a virus (herpes) that you carry.. Not the herpes that people get down there, but is it a distant cousin or another form of it.. It lies dormant in your system and when triggered it brings on a sore.. Alot of people have this and it's easy to spread.. People get it when for instance, two children share a drink.. They may not see it for a very long time, but then suddenly, boom! No big deal, you could get some over the counter stuff which helps it heal 4 days faster.. or just wait it out thefull 10 days.. They never scar..Health Question & Answer

cold sores are a result of a virus that lives in your trigeminal nerve.. Irritation to that nerve can cause a cold sore to appear, and one irritation is the sun.. Knowing this, you need to take responsibility for yourself and be sure to consistently wear spf30 or better on your lips and face..Health Question & Answer
