**I have a reason to take them..Health Question & Answer

Answers:
i took oxycontin and percocet for over 5 years, and vicodin before that.. (i had a serious reason, 7 herniated discs in my neck......and always took the drugs as prescribed)..

i stopped taking narcotics 3 years ago, after having a disc nucleoplasty procedure on 2 discs..

i've had no overall long-term effects, myself.. i noticed i had apparently been highly sensitive to temperature while on the drugs, getting very warm or very cold very quickly even when others were comfortable.. some people get very constipated when on these drugs, i didn't but i know people who really were in bad shape that way from taking similar drugs..

the problem with constantly taking percocet is it has a ton of tylenol with it.. if you actually need the percocet for pain, ask your doctor to consider switching you to oxycodone (which is the same narcotic WITHOUT all that nasty tylenol to hurt your liver)..

the only other effect i noticed is apparently the narcotics made me not that hungry, cuz i gained about 30 pounds the year after i stopped taking them..

still, i'd say your biggest risk is from all that tylenol in your percocets.. (the second number on your prescription shows how much tylenol is in each tablet).. talk to your doc about switching to oxycodone or oxycontin for more effective relief without all that tylenol..Health Question & Answer
