Question: Low platelets again, they told me this 8 mths ago but did nothing.?
I have had 4 blood tests now and every time they have come back that my platelets are very low but all they say is we will do another blood test.. Is there a second opinion I could get or do you think I should just go with one answer.? It is quite worrying..Health Question & Answer

After 4 low platelet tests your GP should be thinking of sending you to a haematologist for a check.. There are lots of reasons for low platelets - the most common is a condition called ideopathic thrombocytopenia.. This is what I was diagnosed with.. It does not cause me problems other than a tendency to bruise easily and I have to be careful if I get cut.. GP reviews platelets every six months now, but they don't get concerned unless the level drops below 80.. Talk to your GP again to see what the plan is.. Good luck..Health Question & Answer
