Best type of knee brace?!

Question: Best type of knee brace.?
Yesterday I got a shot of cortisone in my R knee.. (I had twisted it somehow, about 5 weeks ago, and ice and NSAIDS alone weren't doing the trick..) The orthopedist said that if the cortisone didn't help, in four weeks he'd schedule an MRI to see what was going on.. He didn't give me a specific Dx, so I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.. The pain (from pulled ligament.?) is on the inside of the knee, and I can't fully straighten my knee.. The ortho didn't think I had torn anything, based on the exercises he had me do, but of course he couldn't state that with 100% certainty..

I meant to ask him the best type of knee brace AND icepack for my condition ........ does anyone have experience in this field.? A stretchy, pull-on bandage would be relatively inexpensive, but I wonder if I could hurt myself just pulling the thing on or if I should get a buckle-on brace instead..

Icepack: is it best to get an around-the-knee pack, or can I just lay a regular pack on top of it.?

Thanks!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
ok so i tore my acl so i know the pain of ligament damage..
it doesnt sounds like ur acl, cause i could straighten it,i couldnt bend it all the way
but theres a ton of ligaments in there
haha

but my doctor gave me a brace thaat velcroes(sp.?) around the top and bottom and its got medal rods on the sides so i cant twist it, it makes me feel ore secure when i play ball

and also u shud try getting those gel ice packs so it doesnt get completely solid and u can form it to ur leg

and at pt, i learned if u fill a strafome cup with water and freeze it, u can rub it on ur knee and pull back the styrafome when it melts

i know all my spelling is off but i hope this helps..Health Question & Answer

I don't know why your Dr didn't already request and MRi.?.?.? Twisting injuries can result in mensical tears and acl tears..

This site has more information on these injuries and info on braces and taping techniques.. Get a second opinion on your knee.. I don't think just injecting it is going to help you.?Health Question & Answer
