Car accident, whiplash, no health insurance how to pay for meds?!

Question: Car accident, whiplash, no health insurance how to pay for meds.?
I live in NC.. I was hit by another driver who failed to yield right of way (police report says he's at fault).. I went to the ER & they diagnosed whiplash & prescribed vicodine (pain reliever) & skelaxine (muscle relaxer).. I am in a lot of pain but I can't afford the $85 to pay for the prescriptions.. The Medpay on my car insurance policy said they will reimburse me but I have to pay for the meds up front.. The Ibuprofen isn't working, what else can I do.? Help!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Ask the Dr.. if they have any samples of Skelaxin, if not ask them if it could be changed to Soma, because that comes in a generic (Carisopridol) and Vicodin does come in generic Walmart has all generics for $4.. You may have to go back to the ER or try calling them to see.. The Skelaxin is the one that is so expensiveHealth Question & Answer

You may have to find a doctor that can write a generic script until you get more financially able to pay.. There are many generic pain killers that will work better than Ibuprof..

If you are going to be on the medications long term, many of the medication manufacturers offer patient assistance for people with a legitimate low income level.. You can find this information here:

Otherwise, like mentioned before, Wal-Mart has the $4 scripts for over 100 different medications..

Good luck, and definately seek your rightful payments from the accident, legally..Health Question & Answer

I would call the other drivers insurance company (if he was insured) and tell them your situation..

But more than likley, you are stuck..Health Question & Answer

You can make a claim on the other driver's insurance...... assuming that they had it.. They should take care of everything..Health Question & Answer

wal mart has a $4 thing on some meds.. you could see if yours are on the list or if a genaric is in its place.. if not I'm really sorry!Health Question & Answer

If you have a proven medical injury, then find a lawyer......and they'll probably take the case 'for a percentage' of the settlement.. The lawyer can arrange for you to get the meds, checkups, physical therapy, etc.. and the other guys in surance has to pay for it..
Might take a year or two to settle, but where YOU might settle for medical bills or even just a couple hundred bucks which is all they will offer-your LAWYER will be going after THOUSANDS of dollars to cover 'future' pain and suffering, possible permanent injury, etc..
Well worth the call.. BUT don't get hosed......if a lawyer says YOU have to pay HIM a retainer or deposit-find another lawyer.. When they take a case for 'percentage'-it means THEY don't get paid until YOU do......so DO NOT give them money up front!
There are crooked lawyers......so check around..
IF YOU have auto insurance, then YOUR company has to pay your bills until the other company settles up......it is part of your AUTO insurance policy.. So call your insurance agent and get a claim going!Health Question & Answer
