No, I've injured my neck several times and am fine now.. I have found chiropractic treatment the best solution.. Once I got rear-ended in my car.. I went to physical therapy for a long time without getting any relief.. So, I decided to try a chiropractor and after one treatment the pain was gone..Health Question & Answer

I would imagine that you have been to a doctor to have your injury looked at by now--if you haven't, please do so..

Without seeing X-rays and understanding the extent of your injuries, nobody here (or the person who told you 'neck injuries are permanent') can answer this question honestly, but--the neck, unless it's an injury to the vertebrae heals just like any other muscle in the body......

The muscles around the spine are designed to be very strong because they hold our bodies upright, and our head above our shoulders, but that's also the reason they seem to hurt so much more than other muscles when they are damaged...... the entire muscle group supports our core..

Someone mentioned seeing a chiropractor, which can be very helpful in getting the muscles to relax because it gets any vertebral shift back in alignment.. The other thing that can help are ice treatments, therapeutic or home massages (gentle massages), and Advil or Motrin (or generic ibuprofen) as these medications treat pain *and* reduce swelling..

It may take a few weeks to recover completely, but it is totally possible to feel better again..

I would advise a trip to the MD if it isn't feeling better within a few days.. Injuries that hurt longer than that may require strengthening through a physical or occupational therapist..

Good Luck!Health Question & Answer
