After reading a magazine, my throat is suddenly sore, and I have a headache. Why?!

Question: After reading a magazine, my throat is suddenly sore, and I have a headache.. Why.?
Bizarre.. The magazine had a strong ink-like smell to it ( Like most magazines.. ) could this be why.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
This is a very common reaction to the ink on magazines and newspapers.. My Mother used to work for our local paper and they changed their ink one time.. Suddenly they started getting dozens of phone calls complaining about runny noses, sore throats, coughing and watery eyes.. I experienced the symptoms myself.. It was awful.. I guess the only thing you can do is air out the magazine or newspaper before you read it.. Or read them online like I do..

Perhaps you could be allergic to the kind of ink they used in printing the magazine.. Or you are just coincidentally getting sick at the time you were reading it.. Strong smells can easily give a person a headache and allergens can irritate the throat.. Try some ibuprofen for the headache and/or something containing an antihisthimine to suppress the allergy symptoms- if it is an allergy, it should have some affect..Health Question & Answer

You probably had an allergic reaction to the type of ink they printed the magazine with.. That is kinda odd but can happen..Health Question & Answer
