Question: Has anyone ever had an infected scrape/cut.?!.?
I recently fell and scraped my butt, and foot.. The two scrapes on my foot got yellow, and made it difficult for me to walk.. I went to the doctor, and they gave me antibiotics, a tetnis shot and told me to use bactrim.. Im just a bit worried, because Ive never had an infected cut.. Can anyone tell me about their experiences.? how long did it take to heal.? Any advice.?!

Definetly keep it clean as I am sure the Dr.. told you too and how.. I have so many infected cuts and it takes about a week to heal.. If you are taking the antibotics take them till they are gone.. Just because the cut heals dont stop taking them.. If you run out and still need some call the Dr.. back I am sure he will callya in some more or even a different kind.. As the other person said antibiotics can take away the good bateria as well so yes yogart is good to eat to get the bateria back in your system.. The first bit of advice is prevention.. If you get a cut, even minor, just play it save and splash a little hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol on it.. It isn't like having a tooth pulled, and on even the biggest cuts and scrapes it doesn't even hurt as bad as the cut did in the first place.. This can save you from an infection which can be costly, and in fact, archeologists believe, killed King Tut!

yes I have had major infection but usually it is about keeping them clean.. using the antibiotics.. I am allergic to antibiotics..
which makes life interesting.. If you have never had an infected cut you must live a very sheltered life.. It is no worries though.. it will heal as long as you take the medication.. i had a severe staph infection after knee surgery ..it was horrible and the infection spread so fast that i almost lost my leg..they tried a few antibiotics but then had to use an experimental antibiotic to flush out the knee.. I was in the hospital for 10 days and went home on IV antibiotics.. Infection is nothing to fool with.. keep the wound clean and use the antibiotics as prescribed..Health Question & Answer
