It depends on whether the bleeding is arterial or venous.. If an artery is severed, the rate should be increased (although occasionally an artery will spasm and close itself down quite a bit).. In the case of an injured artery, the blood would squirt out with each pump of the heart.. After you lose about one liter of blood (an adult has about 5 liters) you experience signs of shock..

So, if a simple small blood vessel was cut (especially a vein) and pressure or a tournaquet was not applied (for example the person was unconscious and nobody was around to help), it could take many hours to bleed to death.. noone would know how it felt because if they did, theyde be dead.. and if they had a near death experience with that, they wouldnt remember how it actually felt because your brain is programed not to remember pain.. if a large blood vessel is cut, they can bleed to death in one minute or less, rapid loss of one quart or more of blood often leads to irreversible shock and death.. it really depends on how deep the wound and where it is though..Health Question & Answer

It depends on how much blood you loose at one time.. If it was gushing, I would imagine you would fall to the ground, and you would feel delusional, and dizzy.. I'm sure you would faint though..Health Question & Answer
