White Tiger Balm is the most amazing stuff for bites.. It might not make much difference to this one though - try an anti histamine cream..
In future put a dab of white Tiger Balm on a bite as soon as it happens and it stops itching almost at once! I learned about it in Indonesia where everybody uses it..Health Question & Answer

I'm the same - I also get an allergic reaction to mosquito bites! There are so many mosquitoes around at the moment - I've got quite a few bites too.. Some don't come up so big and others come up huge!! I do find that squeezing the bite to drain it can help.. It swells up a bit more at first but then goes quite a bit flatter when it's calmed down.. And dabbing it with a cold wet piece of cotton wool or wet tissue can help to soothe it.. also a cold moisturiser.. Once you've squeezed it once, then leave it.. Don't pick at it or scratch it.. If it itches, just put more cold moisturiser on or a cold wet tissue.. I sometimes put a plaster on it to stop me from touching it, so you could try that.. Good luck.. Believe me, I know what you are going through!Health Question & Answer

Really there is no tried & true way to make the swelling go down.. My husband is also very allergic to those little buggers bite.. Don't scratch them for starters& take liquid Benedryl it helps the itching some..
You can find a Benedryl pen (WalMart)to put on the bites.. The one reason you need to take precautions is West Nile Virus! It can either put you in the hospital or the morgue..

You need to see a doctor - either your GP or the local out-of-hours minor injuries unit..

Chances are that you should take an oral antibiotic (five days of flucloxacillin would be typical) but if that doesn't work or you start to develop flu-like symptoms you may need intravenous antibiotics.. Trust me, I have been there..

The main thing is to avoid breaking the skin around the bite as that is the way in which bacteria from the surface of the skin can enter the body.. This is what will lead to conditions like cellulitis, which are increasingly common.. Put a dressing on it with plenty of anti-bacterial cream - but don't delay seeing a doctor.. You might regret it!

One respondent states that one cannot contract MRSA without coming into contact with someone who is carrying it.. That's true, but MRSA is in fact an INCREDIBLY common bacterium.. Most of us have it up our noses! It has just become a bit of a 'cause celebre' of late because the Daily Mail chooses to run scare stories about hospital cleanliness................really it's nothing much to worry about unless you are very elderly or very weak..Health Question & Answer
