Icy hot is purely a comfort measure.. The heat does not penetrate into the muscle layers and only creates a warm sensation as deep as the skin layer.. If you want icy hot that you can plug into the wall, you'd be better off with a heating pad and spray a little bit of menthol in the air..Health Question & Answer
