Why is an ant/mosquito bite hot when you touch it?!

It depends on the ant/mosquito...... fire ants essentially inject the same poisons that a snake has (just in much less concentration, unless of course you get bitten by a lot of them), mosquitos inject essentially their sputum that acts as an anticoagulant (anti-clotting).. The protein in their sputum is different from that of humans and a mininscule infection takes place.. I believe it is because the mosquito bite punctures the skin and releases a chemical that makes the blood loosen up and rise to the surface so it can drink it, and as you know blood is fairly warm.. also, your white blood cells are working to fight foreign substances which produces heat, similar to how you get a fever when sick.. While the ant sting/bite does not "suck blood" the acid in the stinger causes a similar reaction with the blood and white cells..Health Question & Answer
