Bit of an embarrassing Question!

Question: Bit of an embarrassing Question
For the past week or so I have noticed that when I go to the toilet(stools) it hurts as though there's sharp things in it! It's very painful..
I don't feel constipated and i eat fruit and fibre (weetabix) daily and drink water so I don't know what else to do..

I have also noticed small bits of blood on the tissue from the back area when i wipe even hours later..

What could this be.? what would the doctor do if i told them this.?
any help would be good.. thanksHealth Question & Answer

Bleeding in this area could be a form of piles (or Haemorrhoids)..

The symptoms of haemorrhoids include:

- Itchiness around your anus
- Discomfort around your anus, such as feeling sore or it being visibly red
**- Excessive straining when passing a stool (which would explain the pain)**
**- Bleeding after you have passed a stool**
- Discharge of mucus present after passing a stool,
**- Pain while passing a stool
- Feeling like your bowels are still full and need emptying..

(Symptoms you show are displayed in between '** **')

I STRONGLY suggest going to see your GP/Doctor!Health Question & Answer

Bloody stool could be several things, but the most common problem with bloody stool and pain during defecation is due to hemorrhoids.. Diagnosis begins with a visual examination of the anus, followed by an internal examination during which the doctor carefully inserts a gloved and lubricated finger into the anus.. The doctor may also use an anoscope, a small tube that allows him or her to see into the anal canal.. Under some circumstances the doctor may wish to check for other problems by using a sigmoidoscope or colonoscope, a flexible instrument that allows inspection of the lower colon..

My suggestion is that you should visit your doctor even though it is slightly embarassing..Health Question & Answer

It could be a hemorrhoid or a rectal abscess.. A doctor would check to make sure it's not a thrombosed hemorrhoid (which means it has sort of twisted on itself and cut of blood flow) or an abscess or cyst that would need to be drained.. It's important to see a doctor though, if it were not a "normal" hemorrhoid it could cause infection through your whole body..

The things mentioned above can happen to anyone, no matter how healthy the diet..

Good luck.. I know it's embarrassing, but make the appointment..Health Question & Answer

Try to get a doctors appt.. and tel them what your symptoms are in case they want you to bring a stool sample, also fig nutons help keep you regular, you could also try a over the counter stool softener.. It doesn't make you go to the bathroom it just makes it more comfortable..Health Question & Answer

It sounds like Hemorrhoids which is cause by straining, sitting on hard surfaces, etc.. But only your Family physician can give you the accurate diagnoses, so go make an appointment ASAP, because you don't want to prolong the inevitable, Good luck...... Health Question & Answer

You have Piles , Piles are swellings on the inside of the anal canal, the short, muscular tube that connects the rectum (back passage) with the anus, in areas known as the anal cushions.. They are round swellings that can reach the size of a grape.. Piles are not varicose veins..

If you have daily bowel movements that are solid but soft, and you don't need to strain, faeces will pass easily and will not put pressure on the blood vessels in your anal area..

To keep your bowel movements soft, you should:

eat plenty of fibre-rich foods such as fruit, vegetables and wholegrain cereals (eg brown rice, wholemeal bread and wholemeal pasta)
drink plenty of water
You shouldn't spend too much time on the toilet (reading, for example).. Regular warm baths may relieve irritation and help to keep the area clean..

If you are still passing hard or infrequent faeces, you could try a fibre supplement such as ispaghula husk (eg Fybogel) or mild laxatives such as lactulose, which soften faeces.. Don't use strong laxatives, such as the stimulant laxative senna, unless your doctor advises you to..

There are a number of over-the-counter treatments that can help relieve the symptoms of piles, but won't cure them..

Soothing creams, ointments and suppositories may ease pain and itchiness.. There are many different products available without prescription.. Some contain a local anaesthetic such as lidocaine..
Products containing corticosteroids, such as Anugesic-HC and Proctosedyl, may reduce inflammation and pain..
Always read the patient information leaflet that comes with your medicine and ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice..

If these self-help measures don't work, or you have a higher grade of piles, you may need hospital treatment with one of the following procedures..
