I'm assuming no trauma was involved like if you got hit on your thigh.. You most probably have DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), this occurs within 24-48 hrs after rigorous exercise wherein there is build up of lactate in your muscles causing fatigue and the pain you are feeling, it usually resolves within 5-7 days and all you need is rest and proper nutrition, you can put ice on your thighs to minimize the swelling.. Not to worry DOMS is common among athletes (trust me I'm a physiotherapist), just remember it is very important to warm up and cool down before and after you exert yourself so as not to get yourself injured.. Health Question & Answer

First do not take aspirin.. Motrin is okay..

This is an overuse injury and your muscles need time to heal and adapt to the new activity.. Stretch before and more importantly after activity.. Drink lots of fluids to mobilize the lactic acid that your muscles are producing.. Pain should improve as you adapt the the activity.. Health Question & Answer

Rest.. Eat a balanced diet including fruits and vegetables.. Apply icy hot to the legs.. Drink lots of milk before and after practice this will inhibit the lactic acid build up resulting from the exercise that ultimately causes the soreness.. Health Question & Answer

you should have taken an aspirin before football but you may take it one now.. also try some foot cream with menthol
its because of lactic acid from your muscles
stay always in shape
