Insurance! Every Doctor has to have Personal Indemnity Insurance and that costs.. Therefore if a Generalist misses something or makes the wong diagnosis, they leave themselves open to be sued! Far better for the Generalist to send a Patient with suspected problem to the Consultant, who has trained in that specialty.. The Consultant also has personal indemnity insurance, so if they make a mistake............
