I dont want to get an infection or anything but i start school soon and i want to have a smaller stud.. What should i do.?.?Health Question & Answer

As long as you have a stud in the piercing it won't close..
Wash your hands thoroughly, place the new stud in rubbing alcohol and clean thoroughly.. Take out the old stud, set aside.. Clean entire piercing, inside and out, with antibacterial soap.. Put in new stud.. Wash hands again and clean entire piercing again with antibacterial soap.. Done..
I have many piercings including one in my nose which I have had to re-open and have stretched twice before.. This should be fine with no infection as long as you follow those instructions and clean your piercing regularly..Health Question & Answer

Changing the stud before the healing can cause infection and inflammation.. I suggest you clean your hands before you touch your nose, and try not to play with it too much.. [*Be careful!- if you use hand sanitizer, wait until it is dry to touch your nose.. It'll burn otherwise] Wait it out.. It won't be long.. You'll change it soon enough..Health Question & Answer

You should wait at least 2 weeks before you switch the piercing.. Otherwise it could cause major irritation!
