If psychiatrists have an M.D., does that mean they know as much about the human body & brain as other doctors?!

Question: If psychiatrists have an M..D.., does that mean they know as much about the human body & brain as other doctors.?
If so, then why aren't they the ones who give the shots, etc.. to a patient in a psych ward, etc..,.? If they are an M..D.., if there was nobody else around, then would they be obligated to atleast try to help someone, if they were hurt.? Do psychiatrists have a regular M..D.., with additional training in psychiatry.? Technically wouldn't that make them a kind of neurologist.? My new psychiatrist had a model brain on his shelf and it had stuff written on it.. Health Question & Answer

Psychiatrists are doctors.. They graduated from medical school, meaning they earned their M..D.., they are a doctor.. When you complete medical school the next step is to do a residency.. Residency is where you choose your specialty, a specific area of medicine you want to practice, one of these areas is psychiatry..When you have completed the residency you receive certification in the specialty..Health Question & Answer

I understand they have to go to medical school like any other physician.. Just like judges start as lawyers graduated from law school and taken the bar examination.. Psychiatrist also must spend some time in hospitals to get training and then specialized.. It takes lots of studies and work.. Often they don't start as psychiatrist until they are in their early thirties.. And of course ethey must take the same medical examinations to get their license..Health Question & Answer
