Question: Question about Contact Lenses!.?
I'm 14 and about 2 years ago I noticed that it was starting to get more and more difficult to read the board at school so I got an eye exam.. The optometrist told me I have myopia (short sightedness) and should wear glasses to wear at school, watching tv, going to the cinema etc.. I refuse to wear them in public so I'm going to have to get contacts instead..
Does anybody know whether wearing the contacts all day will make my vision worse.? Someone I know who wears glasses said since he's been wearing them they have made his eyes so much worse.. My dad says I can get laser eye surgery in a few years but I don't want to become dependant on contacts and make my eyes worse..

I have also been wearing contacts since 1975 and it's been nothing less than great.. My understanding is that your eyes will continue to deteriorate a bit until you hit your early twenties; at that point they will hit a plateau that typically holds (with only minor changes) through middle age, until your late fifties on.. also it has been my understanding that, contrary to what your pop said, arresting the rate and amount of decline now, through corrective lenses of any type, is the best thing to do..Health Question & Answer

wearing contacts doesn't worsen the eyes so long as they are worn correctly and have the right strength for your eyes also make sure they are worn within certain periods of time because if not then your eyes may irritate......i think you should use eye drops once a day whilst your wearing contacts to moisten your eyes and stop any irritationHealth Question & Answer
I've been wearing lenses since 1975 and as long as you get well fitting lenses that have the right strength, they will not make your eyes worse..

no it wont..i wear contacts and i wear them all day..thats what your suppose to do..i near sited..or you could just put on your glasses when neccasary..but most likely you'll wear them all day..good luck..Health Question & Answer
