I need to test someone for drugs. I suspect one or all of these. Percocet, Lortab and oxycodone or oxycontin.
What kind of drug test will I need to buy.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You will need to buy a test that covers OPIATES. Many of the over the counter tests test for certain things, so make sure it is a test that covers opiates if you are looking for narcotic pain meds. You do need to know that it is illegal in most states to test someone against their will unless it is your minor child. If it is your child, I suggest taking him to your pediatrician for the testing. Your pediatrician will be able to do the testing as well as counsel you and your child on drug abuse. If it is not your child, then you may be in a sticky situation. If it is an employee, make sure you are justified in the request, such as having a drug-free policy which states you have the right to "random" or "for cause" drug screening, and then I would suggest taking them to a facility such as a worker's compensation type clinic for a "chain of custody" drug screening otherwise the results are unusable.Health Question & Answer

If it is work-related, you should have a policy in place for a referral to a lab to conduct the opiate testing If you haven't got such a policy I suggest you develop one to avoid legal issues in the future

If it is your child, you can use an over the counter test kit, and the counseling afterward is up to you, or as ER Nurse suggests, have it done through your MDHealth Question & Answer
