Answers:
A deductible is what you have to pay before your health insurance kicks in. However, traditional polices allow you to go to a doctor at a pre-determined price called a co-pay. Prescriptions are usually covered by a co-pay also. A co-pay is not subject to the deductible nor does the co-pay apply towards the deductible.

So, you can go to to the doctor for whatever your co-pay is (usually $20 to $45) and this does not apply towards the deductible. Whatever treatments are received are subject to the deductible - you are out the $1,500, but you still have to pay for doctor visits.

Your policy may also have co-insurance, which is a kinda sneeky way to increase your expenses.

Assuming you are an adult, if you are in college, tech school or graduate school you might check out the special student health insurance plans offered by United Healthcare by going to www.UHCSR.com and checking if your school is participating with this program.Health Question & Answer

Hospital visits do count! Call the company to make sure you understand all the little clauses. For full coverage that does not sound bad. Insurance is a must, as you see with the floods happening. Medical is the same way. You have to be treated like it or not. :)Health Question & Answer
