Anyone with Experience (meniscus tear)?!
Question: Anyone with Experience (meniscus tear).?
So I was told that I have a medial and lateral meniscus tear and possibly some ligament damage (couldn't tell by the mri). I have to be referred to an orthopedist but in the mean time I asked my family doctor what types of activities I should avoid. She told basically to do what I can do. Does that make sense.? My threshold for pain is pretty good so I can pretty much "do" most things. Won't too much activity damage it further.?Health Question & Answer

Unfortunately you should not do much of anything. I only had a meniscus tear for a very short time and ended up with arthritis and even after surgery I am having problems with it still. (we are unsure why) My suggestion is do as little as possible before and after it is treated. Even if you feel fine, give it a good amount of time to heal. I can deal with pain too but don't let it get to the point that you won't be able to deal with it. Health Question & Answer
I actually tore my mensicus on both sides along with my acl earlier this summer. While i was waiting to get my surgery the doctor told me that I could pretty much do anything i wanted. wat he told me was that i did all the damage that pretty much could be done. the only concern i think with that is eventual arthritis in the knee but im pretty sure thats only a concern when u do stuff on it for an extended period of time (im guessing like a couple of years). also i was wandering if anyone has had experience with meniscus and acl reconstruction, and how long it took to recover.Health Question & Answer
even though you are capable of doing it, you shouldn't be.
The more wear and tear you put on it the longer it will take to heal completley.Health Question & Answer
