that's impossible to say. did you injure yourself at all that you can remember.? usually there is swelling to accompany a severe injury, and since there isn't any, maybe it was just a small injury. i would take a couple of ibuprofen- they have an anti-inflammitory in them, and that should help with the pain. you can take 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours. that should help a bit. if it doesn't get better in a few more weeks, you will have to get a doctor to look at it, even if you have to go to a free clinic somewhere. lets hope the pain pills work. good luck.Health Question & Answer

It could be problems with your shoulder or upper arm.

I experienced wrist pain and everyone including me assumed carpal tunnel. I went to see a doctor, physio, and a chiro and they concluded it wasn't the wrist, but in the shoulder and upper arm.

Whatever activity you are doing that may be causing the pain (ie computer), remember to take frequent breaks and stretch. also, ask someone you trust to give you a shoulder massage.

Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Those little carpel bones in the wrist can get themselves into some strange positions - and hurt like hell. One thing you can do - get something heavy - 5 or 6 pounds - put it in a plastic sack from the store. Put the handle of the sack around your wrist so that the sack will hang from the wrist without you having to hold it with your fingers.

Then allow it to gently traction your wrist for a while - might be a little painful at first. If you've got 2 weeks into this, it might even hurt worse as it gets better.

So relax your arm - walk around with your heavy plastic bag - get one for the other wrist too - and allow it to lengthen out those carpels. Might help - and if it doesn't it won't cause you any harm.Health Question & Answer

it could be that you over used it.( Palmaris Longus, muscle in the wrist) it would be arthritis, but only a doctor could tell you for sure. Try putting heat & ice, heat & ice a couple of times (but end w/ ice) then try massaging it. hopefully that helps.
If its true carpal tunnel, your thumb won't be affected.Health Question & Answer
