Ok this is really confusing to me. I have an injury that can be fixed with surgery , that out come is 90% that I will be better. The thing is that all the doctors I go to want me to be on pain pills. Why do some doctors treat patients and not cure patients.. We have have enough knowledge in this world. Is it that want you to be addicted so you keep coming back or is it just because I am getting lazy treatment.Health Question & Answer

You obviously have not studied medicine. There is not a single doctor in western style medicine that will claim to cure anything. They treat symptoms and your regeneration/healing system does the repair work. Beyond stitches and casts doctors are fairly useless in the case of injuries that's why the pain blockers are prescribed and no they do not have the knowledge or the tools to fix the problem.

How do you know there is surgery available.? and what the outcome would be.? How bad is your injury.? are you likely to get better with pain killers and the healing power of time.?
What are your financial/insurance circumstances to afford the surgery.? These might all be questions the doctors are considering.
Ask your doctor to refer you to a specialist (and insist on it) to see if surgery is truly a better course for you. A specialist is more likely to be explain the procedures and your chances of recovering by yourself.
I had a knee injury 25 years ago which was a 50/50 proposition for surgery (which was a lot bigger operation then than it is now). I took the advice to wait and take the pills; it finally healed and hardly ever gives me a twinge now (tho I expect it will be the first part to develop old-age arthritis lol).

Pharmaceutical companies may give doctors cash incentives to prescribe/promote the use of their products, rather than the doctors actually curing the injury via surgery.
Perhaps your doctor doesn't feel that your injury is severe enough to warrant surgery, preferring to give you pain medication instead.

perhaps doctors are just used to people who don't have the resolve to care for their bodies and just jump to pain killers instead of curing.Health Question & Answer
