I am having Surgery on Monday. I was advised to take the laxative Fleet Enema the night before. This is a bottle that I have to take at one time. How long will I be in the bathroom for.? I don't want to be using the potty all night if I need to get a good nights sleep. also, I don't want to have any accidents in my pants when I am asleep since I will also be on a volume pill to help relax me prior to surgery. You won't be all that long. Once you insert the Fleece Enema, it depends on how long you can hold it in there. Usually not long/ Once it is all out, you'll be fine. No accidents while sleeping. The Fleet enema is very mild. It'll probably give you the urge to go in just a couple minutes. (Don't worry if it's a little longer.) You'll probably go only once, maybe twice. Then it's over. No worries, OK.?

Steph, there is a big difference between an enema and a laxative. One goes in the top, and one goes in the bottom.Health Question & Answer
