Bone sticking out of side of toe?!

Question: Bone sticking out of side of toe.?
Does anyone know what it could be.?
At the bottom of my right big toe, the bone sticks out. It hasn't always been like this and the other foot isn't like it. The toe leans to the right and it looks as though as it's done this, the bone below it was pushed in the opposite direction if that makes sense.?
There's a kind of reddish patch on the skin where it sticks out and it I press it it hurts. Somedays it hurts when I walk as well or it'll just have this burning sensation when I'm sat down.

I do a lot of running and wasn't sure if that might be the problem (I wear proper running shoes). I'm 16 and wouldn't like to think its bunyons or anything - I don't even wear tight shoes, I wear trainers all the time.

Any help would be appreciated :)

A bunion dear...usually afflicts old ladies. But it's the result of trying to cram your tootsies into too narrow shoes. I worked in a fancy old lady shoe store all through college and fitted many ladies who had big monster bunions.
The little old ladies would STILL wear heels with pointy toes, trying to get their feet to do something they should not be doing.
If you run, I'm guessing the pressure and pounding of the running action has caused the bunion. It's basically the same principle at work.
You most likely need a wider width running shoe. Bunions do look kinda like a bone sticking out..they can also cause great pain. I'd stay off of running for a bit, and see if it calms down some. Then try a wider width running shoe...if nothing helps, you could possibly need surgery on it.Health Question & Answer

I would definitely say that you have a bunion. The only thing you can do is to see your doctor, bunions are very painful and there is no cure to bought at the pharmacy i am afraid.Do see your doctor because there is an operation they can do and it will not get better on its own but it could get worse.Health Question & Answer

Bunion likely, stop running and see a doctor. Bunions may be treated conservatively with changes in shoe gear, different orthotics (accommodative padding and shielding), rest, ice, and medications. These sorts of treatments address symptoms more than they correct the actual deformity. Surgery, by a Podiatrist, may be necessary if discomfort is severe enough or when correction of the deformity is desired.

Health Question & Answer

It sounds more like a bunion, less like a bone sticking out of the side of your toe.

My mate wears flip flops most of the time and she got a bunion from walking boots. They are not just restricted to old ladies in stiletto heels!

See a chiropodist for confirmation and treatment.Health Question & Answer

So you're 16 with a bunion. Go and see a chiropodist. (Or if you're American a podiatrist) Health Question & Answer
