Question: Big toenail fell off.?
Ok so over the summer I walked a lot and I had my toe nails painted So at first I didn't notice that my under my nail had turned like black (like a bruise) But I was having a little bit of pain. So when I took the nail polish off I noticed and got scared and went to the doctors. He said there was nothing he could do unless it hurt all the time (which it didn't) and they would put a needle in the nail making the blood underneath come out. But I didn't get the needle put in then the other day my feet got wet and my toe nail came half off! I didn't know what to do so I soaked my foot and pulled the rest of the nail off. So my question is Will the toe nail grow back.?.?.? I'm so worried it won't. And if it does grow back how long will it take.? Health Question & Answer

yes, nail will grow back, will take a while. nail usually grown about 1-3mm per day in a healthy person. A common cause of the nail turning black & falling off is pressure against the inside of your shoe, (nail too long) of "stubbing" it or something falling on it. Health Question & Answer
so, this summer my husband was splitting wood and my bare foot got hit with some big hunks of wood that went flying. i thought i was going to die from the pain. now the nail is a little more then half off and i was SOOO scared that it wouldn't grow back! thanks for sharing your story. it gave me hope of having normal looking feet again, as i love showing them off!Health Question & Answer
It will grow back. Your nail probably rubbed against the toe of the shoe. Toenails don't grow as fast as fingernails.
