Should I seek a second opinion or let it go?!
Question: Should I seek a second opinion or let it go.?
My MRI shows a possible lateral meniscus tear as well as some degeneration. I went to an ortho and he thinks it's best not to do anything because the pain I am having is medial and the MRI does not show anything in that area. Should I seek a second opinion) at this point I don't even want to be bothered with it anymore and will just ignore it).?Health Question & Answer

Why not do both.? Give it a couple weeks and see if the pain goes away. If it doesn't get better, then seek a second opinion.Health Question & Answer
Not all meniscus tears need to be operated upon. And, newer ortho literature points to there being no better outcome in degenerative/arthritic knees with arthroscopic debridement than you get with physical therapy and judicious activity management. Your decision will also be based on your age, weight, regular activities/work. You can always go to surgery, but you can't reverse it after its performed.Health Question & Answer
