PROCESS OF DYING. How does that go?!

Question: PROCESS OF DYING. How does that go.?
My father has alzheimer's and is in the hospital because his blood count is low (8). He broke his hip approx 3 weeks ago and hasn't been the same since. The doctor wanted to know if I wished to sign a DNR (do not resuscitate), which took me by surprise. He aid he did not know when he was going to pass away...days, weeks, months,,,but said it would be better if I decided beforehand whether he was to be revived or not. I understand what DNR means but what does he mean by the "process of dying" and how long will that take. I want him to be around as long as possible but he keeps saying he wants to go to heaven, to go see his mother, to go see his father, etc. His quality of life is very, very low at this point and it's like he's lost his will to live. Any suggestions or explanations would be appreciated. .?Health Question & Answer

i think when your seriosly sick, you reach a point when death seems conforting. we who believe know that when we pass from this life, we have a life much better than this one to look forward to. isnt that great to know. i bet if we knew exactly what we wre facing, we"d be trying to die so we could get there. but we'RE Not programed like that. god gave us a will to live. but when our bodies grow old and tired, the other side is a welcome relief. stay with your dad as much as you can. but dont try to discourage from wanting to leave. talk with him about who all is on the other side, that he wants to see. make it easy for him. when your time comes then you will know who all to expect to see.death is sad for us who remain, but those who leave us, i believe are living it up, like they couldnt when they were here. hope this helps you some. my mom is in the same predictment. its sad, i know.Health Question & Answer
