Broken foot, plaster off, still hurts?!

Question: Broken foot, plaster off, still hurts.?
I've broken my 2nd and 4th metatarsels by falling off a skateboard. They took off the plaster this morning and sent me home without an x-ray.

It's been getting more and more painful throughout the day and although I can walk on it, it really hurts.

What should I do.? Should I go back to A&E.? Thanks. xHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
After having a plaster removed all the joints in the foot are going be very stiff and this alone can be very painful until the joints start to move again.
I would recommend regular painkillers and a referral by your doctor to a physiotherapist who will assess you and treat you to increase joint range of movement, correct your walking pattern and teach you home exercises to strengthen all the muscles in the foot, ankle and lower limb.

It is normal for there to be more pain out of plaster than in plaster and it should subside in a couple of days.

Make sure you have a physio appointment organised for as soon as possible but if you at all worried go back to A&E, that is what we are here for!!
take care.Health Question & Answer

When you get any plaster off the area that has the broken bones is always going to be sore and tender for a while as it has lost the support that the cast was giving the heeling bones. I would try not to walk on it too much and keep it raised to rest it and stop any swelling, if it doesn't feel any better in a few days definitely go to A&E as the bones may not have healed or alined properly. XxHealth Question & Answer

First of all an x-ray should have been taken before the cast was taken off. How are they (the doctors) to know if the bones were properly healed or not.? if one was not taken,be sure that is taken care of.
Second, soak the affected areas in epsom salts for at least 20 minutes 3x a day. This will expedite the healing and soothe the areas. If you have slight swelling, do not use hot water when soaking. Hot water will only aggravate an area that is swollen.
Hope this helpsHealth Question & Answer

Its probably because the metatarsals haven't been in use for a while, start with easy exercise and then slower get harder, when I broke my foot I had to rest for 2 weeks after without doing any sports. If after 2 weeks it still hurts Id go backHealth Question & Answer

go back to see your doctor, or if you cant wait the weekend go to the NHS walk in centre. To find out where your nearest one is look it up on google. They will advise whether you then need to go to A&E.Health Question & Answer

It will hurt quite a bit until the muscles start to get used to being used again. If the pain is exactly where the breaks were I'd go back to the hospital.Health Question & Answer

my hand was hurting after they took my plaster off

if the pain persists after a couple of days it would probably be best to check in with the doctorsHealth Question & Answer
