Answers:
My daughter has stomach aches a lot. Last school year she would go to the nurse every day for antacid in the afternoon. I know that she has acid reflux, but she won't take the medicine for it.
It sounds like your daughter's problems may be caused by her anxiety, and if she was treated for that, she may not need anything else for her bowels. Stress usually controls the bowel problems, so if you get rid of the stress, then the bowel problems will go away without extra medication.
I think its a good idea that you are taking her to see a therapist first though. Health Question & Answer

If the Dr has her on meds for IBS, then I'd also look to her diet. There are many foods which IBS sufferers cannot have. Since there is no fever with this, I'd consider her diet to be a big problem with stomach pains.

The Upper GI didn't show any physical problems, so it's either an accumulated allergy (food) or the IBS (again, food).Health Question & Answer

It sounds like you're doing everything you can to help her - you're a great mother.Health Question & Answer

You should seek out a gastroenterologist- preferably one with pediatric experience. Health Question & Answer

If these medications don't help, there is no alternative, you will have to let doctors perform blood tests, and convince your daughter to let them take an x-ray (before which she will probably have to take liquid contrast, but you can tell her it's soda), and an ultrasound. As I always say, GIT problems are tough, because even with a detailed medical history, without diagnostic tests, it's impossible to tell what it is.
Has she recently lost weight.? What about her apetite.?
Look for a pediatric gastroenterologist as soon as possible.Health Question & Answer

It's hard to know for sure, but it sounds like your daughter is under a lot of stress. The sooner she starts therapy, the better!

also, the stress is coming from home, as it's there even in the summer time. Are things OK with the family.? Are you stressed or a high-strung person.? Is there screaming or yelling or the silent treatment happening pretty often.? Is she being pressed to be the best at anything.? Is she ever alone with an adult besides you.? (I'm thinking molestation.) Have any big things happened the past year: a move, a change of schools, a baby, etc..?

Good luck, kiddo!

.Health Question & Answer

IBS is not really a diagnosis - did you know.? It just means the doctors haven't identified what she is really reacting too - it is often due to a food intolerance, but can be something more serious.

My IBS turned out to be celiac disease and a gluten free diet has fixed it all.
Typical symptoms include: bloating, nausea, constipation, diarrhea. Even things like frequent nose bleeds, leg cramps and teeth enamel issues can be linked to celiac disease, as well as lactose intolerance.

If she really isn't under any emotional stress or bullying at school then it could be a food intolerance.

There are simple blood tests that can be done to test for celiac disease, as well as other food intolerances.
If the blood tests are inconclusive you can choose to try a completely gluten free diet to see if it makes a difference - this means no wheat, barley, oats, rye, or any food derived from them. There are lots of internet sources available to check for food lists.Health Question & Answer
