I just started on risperidone and my appetite did increase. My dr said to avoid carbs and candy - easy for him to say, lol!
But if you watch what you eat and add exercise, you shouldn't gain. As long as you burn more calories more than you eat, you will lose weight.

I think it's around 40% of people taking risperidone gain weight (minimal to moderate). I've never taken it personally so I don't have any personal experience but that's what I've read about it.Health Question & Answer
