Any help with my swollen ankle?!

Question: Any help with my swollen ankle.?
A couple years ago my left ankle was swollen and I did a million tests and saw doctor after doctor and no one could figure it out. It finally went away after a couple months.

The past few months it has been happening again. This time it is random and will be swollen for a few days, then not for a week or so. My doctor said she will send me to more specialists and get x- rays and all that, but I just wanted to see if there was anything else. Since I've already done all the doctor stuff and don't want to spend all that money again for no results, I just wanted to see if anyone has had this happen to them or had any ideas.?

Thanks! Health Question & Answer

Answers:
RICE (rest ice compress elevate). It could be a broken bone or like a chronic sprain. There really is no for sure way to tell unless you get an x-ray or an MRI to check if there is a tendon or ligament that is torn. You can try an ankle brace and make sure it is fitted properly (it should feel like some compression but not cut off circulation). Ice will be your best bet and anti-inflammatory medicine. Make sure to keep your ankle moving. It's best to sit and elevate it and gently try to "draw" the ABCs or just do circles. If you have sprained your ankle in the past, it can cause your ligaments to become hypermobile (it lets you move too much) and you will sprain your ankle much quicker. Ever tried physical therapy for it.? That might be an option.
