how do anesthesiologists choose the exact right anesthetic to use on someone ...and why did my anesthesiologist have to know that I suffer from depression and OCD.? also how do anesthetics put you to sleep so fast.?.? They weigh you and know how much of the specific drugs to give depending on your weight, usually an anaesthetic is made up of three drugs, the first been the drug that puts you to sleep (it is very strong hence you usually go to sleep straight away), the 2nd been a pain relieving drug to take away any pain, and thirdly been a muscle relaxant to stop movement throughout the operation. The doctor would want to know your full medical history in case of complications or interactions with other medication you may be on for those conditions.
