I am having stitches removed tomorrow following surgery. Does it hurt to have them removed?!
Question: I am having stitches removed tomorrow following surgery. Does it hurt to have them removed.?
I recently had pretty major surgery and was wondering if getting stitches out would hurt. I have a LOT of them and am a bit nervous!!! Never had them before. I would really appreciate honesty!
Thanks,

I will agree with Miklo, but add to that. It isn't always so much the MD (though many times it is), but WHERE the sutures are located. I have had sutures removed from my hand that hurt a lot during removal. I've had sutures in my arm that barely hurt. I have also had sutures removed from my head that hurt more than any other suture removal I've had before.
I hope this helps! Good luck and feel better!!

To be honest, It depends on the doctor taking them out. I had stitches twice. Both times removed by different doctors. First time didn't hurt at all, second time hurt just a little. No big deal though...The actual stitches hurt more than them taking it out.Health Question & Answer
no, really, just a very slight tiny pinch on some of them.Health Question & Answer
