Hubby hit me in his sleep last night?!

Question: Hubby hit me in his sleep last night.?
I am married to an absolute angel who would never hurt a fly.
I know he feels so bad about this - he was obviously having some sort of nightmare last night and (as far as i remember) his whole body jerked and his fist flew out and punched me on the cheek. It's still a bit sore, but there's barely a mark.

I've noticed he's been restless quite a bit in his sleep recently - you know where your whole body jerks.?

Anyway, i wouldn't worry about this, only I'm nearly 5 months pregnant, and i was frozen awake last night in the fear that he'd hit my stomach, or that he would hit the baby if he/she were ever in our bed some night.

I tried sleeping on my side away from him after that, but couldn't get back to sleep, so rolled onto my back (i know i shouldn't be sleeping on my back after 15 weeks, but still), and put a pillow over my belly, just in case!

Any suggestions as to how i can make sure he doesn't do this again.? Or how i can better protect myself and the baby.?Health Question & Answer

this is difficult because its not something either of you can control, does he know what hes dreaming about.?..
i used to put a pillow between my legs, behind my back and under my belly, that's how i got comfy. good luck Health Question & Answer

Don't worry about it, he's probably had a bad at work/ worried about baby, is a bit stressful, he didn't mean it.. he was ASLEEP. Move over to the other side a bit, dont take tiny things like this so seriously. It may cause a fight..
If he does it again and you feel the need for protection, tell him and maybe move to a different room for the present time, although i dont think its neccessary. Health Question & Answer

the chances that he will hit your stomach are quite slim. especially as you have the duvet to protect you, so it wouldn't be too easy for him to get to your tummy.

I wouldn't worry too much if i were you, perhaps just lay on your side away from him just in case :)Health Question & Answer

I would just be careful. Can't you get one of those long pillows that you 'hug'.? That would protect your tummy but also make sure you could properly sleep.

also, NEVER take your child into bed with you. I knew a girl who did that, rolled on her baby in her sleep and killed it. Just don't do it. Its not worth the risk.Health Question & Answer

Its sound like he has a lot of stress and pressure at the moment and the jerking movements in ones sleep is a sign of nervous tension you should have a chat about how he is feeling about it all and maybe he should sleep in another room until he settles a bit more.?Health Question & Answer

tis a tough one.. maybe get a fold out bed and put it on the floor for him to sleep on.? just till you've had the baby.? or take him to some sort of dream psychic, thats if he can remember his dreams xxHealth Question & Answer

My husband does this all the time. When fast asleep his whole body jerks, I spend half my time in the spare room.
Not really sure what you can do.Health Question & Answer
