I feel your pain! I'm in the same no insurance boat for the first time in my life, but you CAN get care-- check for free clinics in your area if you can wait until morning. Maybe it's just a bad sprain. I've had sprains that felt exactly like fractures. You've probably put ice on it, right.? (ice cubes in a baggie--wrap baggie in a hand towel.) And if it IS broken, the hospital (biggest one, like a teaching hospital) will always work with you on payment. They'll have a financial review dept. and go over your finances and determine how much you can pay. If you can't pay now then just go through 'emergency'-- they HAVE to help you. Good luck and grab the Advil.Health Question & Answer

You do really need to see a doctor and have the foot examined to determine whether it is broken or not. Unless there's a bone protruding, sometimes you just can't tell. also, several bones in the foot are so small that there's not much doctors can do to fix them (take it from a person who has broken her toe).

If you're really not keen to go to the hospital, remember to ice the area to prevent swelling and the elevate it to get the blood flow moving from the area.

Walking is an important part of earning a paycheck, however, and your employer should understand or even give you a cash advance if you need to visit a hospital.Health Question & Answer

go to the hospital and explain your situation. they probably can work something out. i don't think they would deny emergency medical care to someone who was uninsured or could not pay.Health Question & Answer
