Answers:
Snakes don't brush their teeth after each meal, so opportunistic bacterial infections are always possible from any kind of bite, snake or otherwise. Remember too, a snake bite is a "puncture" wound and simple soap and water cannot get to the deepest penetrated tissue. There is possible need for antibiotics if symptoms later show infection, such as hot to the touch, redness, swelling.

Soap and water will cleanse the wound and help prevent infections. You should also use an antibiotic salve on the wound.

Venomous snake bite victims should forget first aid and immediately get to a hospital, preferably by an EMS vehicle. Even with large serpents, such as the Eastern and Western Diamondback, or Timber Rattlesnake, all BIG venom producers will allow about two hours to get to professional medical care. The exception would be if the venom was injected into an artery, vein, or near the head. At any rate, time is life when a dangerous bite is involved.Health Question & Answer

When the person is bitten you should bandage the wound tight,BUT not tight enough to cut the circulation off, immobilize the limb with a splint, keep the limb raised you have to keep the patient calm,Don't try to catch the snake,
call an ambulance,if you cant you have to get to the car and drive to the hospital/doctor's,
I've read that you shouldn't wash the wound so that the medical staff can take a swab of the bite to obtain the correct anti venom, then i've read where you should wash the wound
Hope this has helped, have a good oneHealth Question & Answer

I would think the purpose would be to cleanse the bite area then treat the wound. You have a puncture wound and you need to make sure no germs or anything else that might have been lingering on/in/around the snakes mouth infect the wound.Health Question & Answer

well i graduated from the university of Tennessee and the soap actually sucks the venom from the immediate blood vessels
Health Question & Answer

well oviously if the snake has disease like aids (kiding) then the soap will kill any disease or infections and may draw out any venom or fang stuck in the skinHealth Question & Answer

nonvenomous snakes tend to have dirty mouths, thus you have to be sure that you clean the bite thoroughly Health Question & Answer
