How can I get my burn to quit burning?!?!

Question: How can I get my burn to quit burning.?!.?
Last night I went to turn off the timer on the stove and reached over my all metal pan and my arm went down on it and it kept me up almost all night off and on and it still burns. Is there any home remedies that can help with the burning by chance.? I iced it right afterwards to hopefully stop it from swelling and it didn't swell so I was just curious. Thank you! :)Health Question & Answer

Ice = bad.
Cool water only; if you use cold water or ice, you can actually make the burn worse. It's too sudden and drastic a temperature change and can cause blistering or even frostbite (burned tissue is very fragile).
Run cool water over it for at least 10 minutes and then pat it dry (don't rub it). If after those 10 minutes it's still hurting in a "burning" way, continue running cool water over it until the "burning" pain stops.
You can also take painkillers, and if you have any first-aid creams you can use those. You shouldn't put anything greasy on a burn at first, because it traps the heat and can make the burn worse, but since you got it last night the first-aid things should be fine to use.
You can lightly bandage the burn if you wish. Make sure you use nonstick gauze and don't have anything sticky in contact with the burn (medical tape, the non-padded part of band-aids, etc.) as that can rip off layers of burned skin.
And if the burn blisters, don't break the blisters.Health Question & Answer

More ice. Really, it'll help but it takes a good while. I burned the palm of my hand cooking for a party once and was too busy hosting to do anything but hold a glass of icewater. I thought it would hurt after the party was over but it didn't. I held the glass pretty much the whole 4 hours though. Health Question & Answer
