Is cracking your ankles/toes bad?!

Question: Is cracking your ankles/toes bad.?
My parents yell at me all the time because I'm always cracking my ankles (they think that the sound is horrible). I honestly don't think that this is something that I can control, it normally happens when I'm walking or just turning. It feels weird and stiff if they aren't cracked when they could be. My ankles and toes are the only things that really crack on my body so I don't think it's a big deal.

Is it unhealthy to crack joints.?
Do you personally find the cracking sound disgusting.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I crack my joints on purpose when they get that feeling that they are stiff. I tried quitting a few times, but it never gets far because of the uncomfortable feeling.

My uncle, who is a health care specialist, told me it's mostly just nitrogen and other waste products that build up, and cracking the joints gets it moving so that your body can cleanse itself.

There is a school of thought that it causes arthritis. I've been doing it over 30 years, and no arthritis has reared it's ugly head - plus I've had x-rays done by a couple doctors when I experienced swollen joints and my joints are very healthy, albeit prone to swelling from water retention.

So, I realize you're not doing it on purpose (I crack when I walk, etc, too), but it shouldn't be harmful in the long run.

Since I do it, I don't find the cracking others do bothersome.

What I don't understand is the times it happens without your attempting to do it. Do you get punished or yelled at for breathing, too.? (I used to, so I can understand!)Health Question & Answer
