Ibprofen makes me confused?!

Question: Ibprofen makes me confused.?
When I take Ibprofen it gives me an effect like being drunk. I start confusing words (calling cats dogs, calling pillows blankets, whatever) and I can't seem to keep my balance.

Anytime I've told a doctor about this, they just kind of go "huh... thats weird". They never tell me to not take it again or anything like that, I've even been told to take it to reduce swelling. I generally do not take it, and I'm worried what might be happening to cause a side effect like this. It also happens with Naproxen. I've stopped taking any type of NSAID.

Do any of you have the same problem.? Does anyone know why this happens and whether or not it's dangerous for me to take.?

I have an injury that causes swelling in my jaw, it's pretty painful and I would like to take something to reduce the swelling, but most over the counter things that reduce swelling cause me to have these issues (no Advil, Aleve, Ibprofen, Naproxin, Motrin, etc etc)Health Question & Answer

Answers:
That's a strange side effect but apparently it does happen in some people although very rare.

I too can get this side effect.

If you don't want to take ibuprofen for swelling or any other NSAID why not try an antihistamine combined with a narcotic like codeine for pain relief or ice the swolen area in conjunction with the narcotic pain killer.

PS: Ibuprofen does not kill your kidney it is nowhere near as toxic as Acetaminophen (paracetamol) which does have adverse effects on the kidneys and liver if taken in excess, a normal 1000mg therapeutic dose is safe.Health Question & Answer

Thats never happened to me before. Well, its happened but not because of the Ibprofen. However Ibprofen is not very good for you as it kills your kidney.Health Question & Answer

The only I know you can do is ice on 30 min, ice off 30 min....... I took Naproxen once and it made me feel like crap but never "drunk" feeling.Health Question & Answer
