Question: I dislocated my ankle a week and a half ago. Progressively over the past week my shin has been bruising. Why.?
A week and a half ago I dislocated, and by myself immediately relocated, my ankle. I went to my Doctor and Chiropractor and received therapy. I have been on crutches and have had my ankle braced. After I dislocated it I fell, but didn't hit anything. Now I have noticed, over the past week, that there is bruising on my shin and it has progressively been getting worse. It is not very dark bruising, but it definitely noticeable and is spreading. There is no swelling, pain, or excess warmth in that leg. What could it be from.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
The bruising you are experiencing is normal. Especially if you have been wearing a compression sleeve or wrap. The swelling in your ankle doesn't just disappear, it must be absorbed by your lymphatic system and processed as waste. When an athlete sprains their ankle, we immediately apply compression and ice to reduce the amount of swelling that takes place, if the injury is more than 12 hours old, we apply the compression to push the swelling away from the injured site to aid in the healing process.
Why in the world did you go see a chiropractor.? It was your ankle that was disclocated not your back. Health Question & Answer

well it took five days for my worst bruise to fully appear but you may be bleeding under your skin because of a worse injury caused by the sprain, or your blood might not be clotting. Just call your doc and ask him*you can do that you know) I wouldn't say rush off to the er unless it turns into something from resident evil, but keep an eye on it.Health Question & Answer
