I've taken 10 paracetamol (500mg each) in the last 8 hours. is this okay.? Cut a long story short i've been ill(migrane) and sleeping alot and forgeting when and at what times i had taken them. I have just realised. Surely i won't need any medical assistance.?Health Question & Answer

I answered this question a few days ago. Anyone who has taken 10 paracetamol 500mg in the last 8 hours should immediately go to the A/E as it can cause liver failure. You will need a drip with the antidote in it If you fail to go you may die as a result.Even if you recover and feel better your kidneys and possibly liver will be rotting and cease to function, at best you will need dialysis for the rest of your life and at worst you will die.Health Question & Answer
You have gone over the reccomended amount for 24 hours. It would be best to call your local er or urgent care and explain what happened and ask for advice. You might want to try taking a different painkiller that's harder/safer to overdose on, like ibuprofen.
You also might want to make sure there's someone there with you to make sure that you don't turn yellow, and to make an emergency call if you start sicking up uncontrollably. but you'll probably be ok if you don't take any more for a good while.Health Question & Answer

It is unlikely you have done any damage.
Try keeping track of what you have taken though - and you do know you can intermic Ibuprofen with Paracetamol quite safely do you.?

no it states on the pack that u can take no more than 8 a day and thats at 2 maximum within a 2 hr gap... so... no its not ok to take 10 in the space of 8 hrs
you wont need medical assistance bt in future try and be a bit more responsible... if u had migraines ur doctor should have u on better medication than that. its prob just a bad head ache u have... there is a different... but ur doctyor defo would have prescribed u with something for migraineHealth Question & Answer

You are only meant to take 2 every 4 hours so you have taken way to many. I would call your local emergency room and explain to them what has happened and ask them for some advice. also make sure someone is with you for the next few hours just in case. I hope you are ok! XxHealth Question & Answer
