PLEASE HELP: My husband got a tattoo on the Oct. 5th, and now he's really sick. Is this because of the tattoo?!

His symptoms are:
*shaking
*chills
*rapid temperature rise (it went from 98.3 to 101.4 in less then an hour)
*rapid heartbeat (I've tried taking his pulse but [1] he's shaking to hard and [2] I can't keep count)
*flushed skin (it's also warm to the touch, but I don't know if that's the fever or not)
*confusion (he keeps calling me Charlie - which is his sisters name [Charlotte] who died six years ago)

I understand these are serious and we're planning on going to the hospital as soon as his brother gets here to watch the kids, but I really worried about this. He's never acted like this before, and he almost never gets sick. He hasn't been sick in almost three years.
