I am a nurse and have seen these used by other nurses in my field and personally used them. I don't think they're very reliable at all. I know its hard to get someone to take your blood pressure with a cuff and stethoscope but I think you will get a more reliable reading that way. Health Question & Answer

from experience i have found that the home BP testing usually is not very accurate. Any machine that does it is never as good as doing it manually with a propper upper arm cuff and stethoscope. Even the automatic ones on our defib machines that we use in the ambulance aren't all that accurate sometimes. It might be worth investing in a BP cuff and a stethoscope if you have someone who could take it for you. Bit tricky doing it yourself though im sure it is possible!! A cheap stethoscope will only set you back $20-$50 and the cuff probably around the same mark. Good luck! Health Question & Answer

I suffer from " white cold syndrome" when I visit my GP so I test my BP with such a machine before I leave the house and I have to confess that I do find it is quite accurate. I check my BP once each week on the same day and a the same time and I am pleased with the results.Health Question & Answer

Not as good as the proper upper arm cuff, which is much more accurate.Health Question & Answer
