Bruised tailbone?? I went to ER, gave me painkillers, don't help...!!!!!! Help me.. is this normal????!

Question: Bruised tailbone.?.? I went to ER, gave me painkillers, don't help...!!!!!! Help me.. is this normal.?.?.?.?
Okay I went to the ER with my bf, I thought that my tailbone was broken.. It was all red and swollen and feeling like it was broken.. They did six x-rays of my tailbone.. they told me that it was bruised.. They gave me motrin 800 and darvocet N-100 for the pain.. The pain medication helped alot.. although I felt like I was stoned most of the time or sleeping.. after a few days of taking it, I couldn't eat.. I felt hungry, but everytime I thought about or smelled/saw food, I felt like throwing up. That night I quit taking the pain killers, and I was up all night in pain. I couldn't move, I couldn't even breathe deeply when laying on my stomach.. or it hurt... alot. It was really itchy and got super swollen, so much so that the skin over and around it got a cracked and stuff.. the swelling went down a little after my bf made me take some more of the painkillers, and now a few hours later it hurts like hell again, and I can't take the painkillers for another 2 1/2 hrs.. Is it supposed to feel like this and get this swollen.?.?.?.? It was feeling better.. considering when if first happened it felt like it was swollen and then, it was only sore, so the pills were making me sick, so I tried not taking them for one night, and it swells to the size of a baseball.?.?.? It's in between my buttcrack, to be honest... and it hurts to move around.. Ice doens't really help the swelling go down much.. just numbs it... please help me.!!!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Inflammation is a common reaction to bruising, or any other form of injury.
The reason you feel stoned is because of darvocet. It has that kind of effect on people. But its main purpose is to reduce the pain.
If this drug bothers you so much than I suggest you ask your physician on a drug called Tremadol, which belongs to the same family as Darvocet. Perhaps you might have a better tolerence. Darvocet is a synthetic opiate, rather effective in pain relief( belongs to the same family as morphine, though less addictive...but hence that stoned feeling), I presume you must be constipated as well.
Anyway, ask your ohysician about the tremadol.
I guess you'll have to bear with it. I had a similar injury and it took weeks to subside,
Take care!Health Question & Answer

The motrin is for the pain, but mostly for the swelling so keep taking that even if it's not seriously hurting you. It is very irritating to your stomach so you need to be eating something or drinking milk or an ensure before you take it. Are you icing it.? The darvocet is a milder opiate, but if you hurt, take it! It sounds really painful, I hope you feel better!Health Question & Answer
