Ultram ER question......?!

Question: Ultram ER question.......?
Have any of you ever taken 'Ultram-ER' for pain control.? Did you have, as a side effect, hallucinations.? (200 mg.)Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Never heard of Ultram extended release before but I do know that when I was taking Ultram 50mg it sent into seizures.

Ultram works off the same receptors in your brain as narcotic pain analgesics.
It is addictive and it has dangers.
A common misconception is that Ultram is not addictive but works just as well as Hydrocodone.
Well it does work as well as hydrocodone but don't fool yourself into believing it is safe.

None of this information was available about the drug when it was prescribed to me, so who knows if this is all the side effects.?

INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS

Patients should be informed that Ultram ER should be used with caution when taking medications such as tranquilizers, hypnotics or other opiate containing analgesics.
Female patients should be instructed to inform the prescriber if they are pregnant, think they might become pregnant, or are trying to become pregnant (see PRECAUTIONS, Labor and Delivery).
Patients should be educated regarding the single-dose and 24-hour dosing regimen, as exceeding these recommendations can result in respiratory depression, seizures or death. Health Question & Answer

That's not a listed side effect. Tramadol isn't exactly a high strength pain medication,, it's more like Tylenol ES.

I was taken ULTRAM back in 2007 after heel surgery and the only side effects for me was it wasn't strong enough to reduce my pain.Health Question & Answer

I had been experiencing lower back and knee pain for about four years now, which has progressively gotten worse over time. Before I went to my doctor about it, a co-worker of my husband gave him a baggie filled with the "harmless" drug (Tramadol) for some mild knee pain he had been suffering from. So I decided to help myself to some as well. It couldn't have been more than a month before the entire bag was empty. There had to have been over 100 pills in there at least. My husband was suspicious a little worried, I could tell. He questioned me about it, but I brushed it off as if it were no big deal. The drug gave me a sort of high, unlike anything I had experienced before, but only when taken in higher than recommended doses. Other than the itching and being slightly drowsy, I felt great while on Tramadol... almost euphoric, but in a way where I could still function almost normally.

After the bag had emptied, the next day I felt a little achy, but chalked it up to a minor flu of some sort. I decided then, to go to my doctor about the back and knee pain I was experiencing. After a myriad of questions and an x-ray (which gave no answer as to why I was in pain), he rescheduled me for an MRI with a local orthopedic doctor. I asked if he could prescribe me something to manage the pain, because in all truth, some days it prevented me from even walking. He asked what types of pain killers I had been on in the past, and I mentioned Tramadol. He asked if it worked, and I said yes. Well, decided to put me on hydros instead, which was supposed to be stronger than Tramadol. I though to myself, "Yes! Even better!" I know that hydros are a known narcotic and highly addictive, but to tell you the truth, my drug of choice was still Tramadol. So the day I had my MRI, I asked the doc for a script for some more pain killers. He wrote one up for my favorite... yes, Tramadol, in addition to some muscle relaxers. I was thrilled, and to be honest, slightly scared.

Immediately I paid no attention to the 50mg at a time, 150mg a day prescribed amount I was to take, and began taking 150mg at a time, and getting up to around 500mg a day easily. Within a week I found myself nearly falling asleep at the wheel and began to notice severe mood swings and irritability. I felt like I was in a fog. I was tense, physically and emotionally, and my poor dear husband. He became my scapegoat and my punching bag. I blamed him for every horrible emotion. If I could take back all those nasty words and harsh looks, I would in a heart beat. He's a wonderful man for not only putting up with me through all of this, but loving me too, because man was I being one unlovable you-know-what! Unfortunately, he later admitted that it got to the point where he began to avoid me, leaving hours early for bible study (which I forfeited due to my drowsiness), and going to the gym twice a day just so he wouldn't have to deal with all the fights I was causing. This breaks my heart. I am so sorry for what pain I must have caused him. My health, my marriage
